Legal 500

In recent years the property market has become inundated with high risk, speculative property investment schemes. These schemes can range from off-plan residential developments, to student accommodation developments, hotel and care home lease-back schemes.

A common feature of many of these schemes is that the investors are referred to a conveyancing lawyer by the developers to deal with the transaction on their behalf. We have discovered that often the conveyancers have failed to advise their clients comprehensively on the legal risks of the schemes leading to investors ploughing money into highly risky (and often fraudulent) investment schemes without fully understanding the risks.

Cripps have used their detailed knowledge of the financial services legislation and in depth experience in professional negligence law to successfully recover funds for clients by bringing claims against their conveyancers for failing to comply with the duty of care owed to their clients.
